Just a couple of days ago Apple announced that the company sold 13 million iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in just the first three days of sales. An incredible number, right? Compared to Samsung, which has sold 10 million Galaxy S6 for one month, the rate of Apple seems to be something out of science fiction. But analysts are unhappy again, arguing that the new iPhone will be collecting dust in warehouses. What is actually happening?
Company Asymco decided to analysis the market of iPhone for the last 8 years. Thus, the company wants to find out the true situation of Apple.
The experts made a chart with data on the sales of all devices of the corporation for the first three days in different years. The list starts with the iPhone 3G and ends with the newest iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. In addition, given smartphones by Apple’s main competitor – Samsung.
What do we see? The first iPhone sold poorly – only about 100 thousand units in the first day of sales. iPhone 3G and 3GS came to around half a million, and at the time of the release of iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c it reached three million.
It would seem that with the iPhone 6 should be observed a sharp jump in sales – the model is not an intermediate, with a new design and features. But this did not happen. Meanwhile, as the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus there was a real breakthrough – 4.3 million smartphones sold in the day! Even the most optimistic analysts did not expect this.
We can assume that “intermediate” model bring main revenue to Apple. With the release of versions S the company Apple is experiencing a “boom” in sales. Strange? Maybe. However, this is a theoretical explanation.
The first buyers of the iPhone does not change their devices to smartphone with support 3G. They moved to the 3GS, running a series of updates iPhone: once in two years. Next released iPhone 4s, iPhone 5s and now – iPhone 6s. If Apple did not release 3G models, we would not have seen this cycle.
Everything is cyclical, like the desire to iPhone owners to upgrade their gadget to a newer version. But not everyone can afford to do it once a year, hence the increase in the time frame of two years.
Apple has successfully moved into the future, so you should not blindly believe the “experts”.
