In the coming months leading companies in the world Microsoft, Google and Apple will hold a conferences for developers. What do we expect from these events?
Microsoft Build (from 30 March to 1 April – officially announced)
In 2016, Microsoft is preparing a second big update of Windows 10 and all platforms based on this operating system. The update has codenamed Redstone. Its first test builds are available to participants of the program Windows Insider. At the moment we do not know about any significant innovations. We expect that they will be announced at the conference Microsoft Build.
As usual, Microsoft will talk about its most popular software products – Office, Azure and OneDrive. It is possible that it become known the details about projects Astoria, Islandwood, Westminster and Centennial, by which developers can port applications to Windows 10 from other platforms. Microsoft will pay special attention to the helmet HoloLens. The company plans to start selling test version HoloLens for developers and geeks.
According to rumors, on the first of February Microsoft will introduce the latest smartphone series Lumia, and then take a break until the release of new flagship smartphone series.
Google I/O (from 18 to 20 May – officially announced)
This year the conference Google I/O 2016 will be a logical continuation of last year, because almost none of the announced in the spring of the product and has not been brought to mind. Chrome OS did not receive full support for Android applications. Now on Tap is still not supported in third-party applications. Cardboard is a cheap VR-helmet that does not represent anything serious. Android Wear develops chaotically and it seems that manufacturers are not involved in the software development process. And the biggest question remains Android – the delay in the release of updates for even flagship devices have become totally unacceptable. We believe that Google will slow down and will try to implement what has been planned for a long time.
Apple WWDC (13 to 17 June – not confirmed)
It is expected that this spring Apple will introduce the second generation of Apple Watch and inexpensive smartphone with 4-inch screen.
Over the last year Apple released two new operating systems (tvOS for Apple TV 4 and watchOS for Apple Watch). New OS receive updates with iOS and OS X, so we expect that at WWDC 2016 will be announce the innovations that affect all of its platforms. We believe that most of the innovations would be in watchOS, because the operating system will be redesigned specifically for the second generation of smartwatch. Also Apple Watch 2 will have many new features, such as camera for communication via FaceTime, dozens of new sensors and partial independence from smartphone.
Most users would expect from WWDC 16 the official release of iOS 9.3 and iOS 10.
