The retail giant Walmart will begin offering Cyber Monday deals ‘online’ one day earlier than usual, because now ‘everyone has Internet’.
The so-called Cyber Monday may take place before Monday. Walmart, the largest retailer in the world, has decided to offer its deals via the Internet on the Sunday after Thanksgiving Day.
“Customers have changed, but the Cyber Monday has not changed with them,” Fernando Madeira, CEO of Walmart.com, told Reuters. “Now everyone has Internet”.
According to the report, the real Cyber Monday origins date back more than a decade ago, when customers began to enjoy high-speed Internet in their offices. So people can buy things from there without needing to travel with endless queues to the mall the weekend after Thanksgiving, which is celebrated just last Thursday of November.
Last year Walmart offered 500 deals on Sunday that were only available through the Internet, however this year the company has announced that there will be over 2000 online specials available from Sunday at 5:00 pm US Pacific Time.
Walmart try this new “Cyber Sunday” ahead of competitors such as Amazon, which has the greatest selling on Monday.
A report cited by Reuters Adobe says first Cyber Monday sales in US will reach US $ 3,000 million in 2015, 12 percent more than last year. But Black Friday is still generating more expectations, because it is expected to increase its sales by up to 15 percent compared with 2014.
