While other carriers are trying to fleece you big time by offering a $199.99 on contract price, Republic Wireless will soon be offering the Motorola Moto X for an outright purchases price of $299.99. That’s close to half price what you’d pay to buy the Moto X from any other carrier. The catch is that republic wireless relies on your wifi connection first and places and receives calls via wifi first, and only if there’s no wifi will the phone switch to a regular cellular connection.

The beauty of the republic wireless plan is the price. There’s different plan options for use with your new Moto X coming this fall starting from just five bucks a month and other plans costing 10, 25 and 40 dollars depending on your choice:

5 bucks a month – Wifi only.  If you have no need for a home phone line, this is one of the cheapest ways to get a phone for your home.

10 bucks a month – Unlimited talk and text and data on wifi and cellular, but unlimited data only via wifi.

25 bucks a month –  Unlimited talk, text and  data on wifi and 3G data service where available.

40 bucks a month – Unlimited talk, text and data on wifi and 4G data service where available.

Republic Wireless might not be for everybody, but if you want a cheap data plan and a cheap Moto X this fall, they are worth a look.
